TCM product lands 1 in ICU, another with bone fracture
SINGAPORE - A man in his 80s has been warded in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after consuming an illegal traditional medicine product that was sold as herbal medicine to treat arthritic and joint pain and promote blood circulation. A second man who took the same capsules is suffering from serious adverse reactions. - See link for more information

Guess that explains why TCM needs to be regulated.

Re: TCM product lands 1 in ICU, another with bone fracture
Some TCM products had been effective to reduce swelling and inflammation partly due to the steriod contents. In Malaysia, my wife's cousin kid took some pills for her skin allergies but result to puffiness of the face. Pretty much like Cushings.
Always good to make sure the practitioner is a good one.

Agree that it's the practitioner and not the science of tcm that should be questioned. Many techniques in tcm has overlaps with techniques in western Medicine/the physio field.
I think consumers should be aware and in control of their condition so as to make an appropriate decision on management-be it western/tcm.
I have a good experience w tcm for my joint problem -western surgery n physio to repair and tcm to expedite the recovery...
